Learning for Independence, Confidence and Success
The Foundations for Life Curriculum is a distinctive and innovative feature of Hope Academy that reflects our school’s commitment to educating the whole child. The curriculum is designed to develop the functional, social, emotional, and independence skills that enable students to access learning, participate meaningfully in their community, and prepare for future success.

What is Foundations for Life?
Recognizing that academic achievement and functional independence are closely connected, the curriculum integrates Applied Behavior Therapy (ABA) principles alongside standards-based academic instruction, ensuring students develop both the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive.
Learning Through Real-Life Application
Skills are intentionally taught, practiced, and generalized across different settings so students can apply them confidently in everyday situations at school at home, and in the community.
Growing Independence Through Every Grade
The curriculum progresses from Kindergarten to Grade 6, supporting student growth as they move from early routines and school readiness skills towards greater independence, self-advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving.
The Hope Academy Difference
By integrating academics with functional life skills, social-emotional development, communication, and independence, the Foundations for Life curriculum empowers students to not only to succeed at school, but to build independence for all aspects of life.
