Primary School Curriculum
Every day, our dedicated educators create a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, discover, and grow. Through engaging experiences, meaningful relationships, and personalized support, we nurture confident, curious learners who are empowered to reach their full potential.
From collaborating with peers and solving real-world challenges to building foundational skills and celebrating achievements, each experience is designed to inspire a love of learning, a sense of belonging, and the skills needed for success in school and beyond.
Primary Welcome
At Hope Academy, teaching and learning are guided by our IMPACT initiative:
Inquiry Driven Learning: “This week in science, students used their senses and a magnifying glass to closely observe a slice of orange, describe what they noticed, and ask questions about what they discovered. This encouraged the learners to explore like scientists by using their curiosity, observations, and scientific tools to guide their learning, which demonstrates inquiry driven learning where students are actively exploring, questioning, and using evidence from their own observations to build understanding.” - Miss Danille (Grade 3 Teacher)
Multisensory Experiences: “I incorporate multisensory experiences to help students engage with learning through seeing, hearing, touching, moving, and doing. From hands-on sensory activities and art to music, movement, visual supports, and practical learning experiences, I provide students with different ways to explore and understand new concepts. These experiences help make learning meaningful, engaging, and accessible for all learners.” - Miss Jada (Grade 1 Teacher)
Personalized Pathways: “Students are encouraged to express themselves creatively through avenues that make learning easier. During our experiment today, students had the opportunity to draw, write, or dictate their observations. This ensured that all learners felt comfortable sharing their thoughts.” - Miss Sabrina (Grade ½ Teacher)
Adaptive Teaching: “In our classroom, adaptive teaching takes place through differentiated instruction, targeted small group support, and the use of visuals, manipulatives, and explicit modeling. I adjust the level of support, pace, and learning activities based on students’ individual needs while working towards the same learning goals.” - Miss Meaghan (Primary Learning Support Teacher)
Collaborative Opportunities: “I create opportunities for students and support staff to learn and grow together through teamwork and partner activities like interactive learning games. Whether they are solving problems, helping a classmate, or working toward a shared goal, the students are encouraged to communicate, support one another, and celebrate each other’s successes.” - Miss Caliyah (Grade 6 Teacher)
Targeted Feedback: “This week, I incorporated targeted feedback during work periods by checking in with students individually and giving specific feedback as they worked. I also built in time at the end of some lessons for students to reflect on their work and self-assess their understanding.” - Miss Julia (Grade 5/6 Teacher)
