Gears of Greatness: Celebrating Our Robotics Team

🤖 Robotics Excellence at Hope Academy

Our Middle School students spent the first and second quarters fully immersed in innovation through our Vertical Learning robotics program. Working with dedication and teamwork, they designed, built, tested, and coded a VEX IQ competition robot—gaining hands‑on experience in engineering, problem‑solving, and collaboration. Their hard work prepared them for the upcoming 2025–2026 VEX IQ Mix & Match Competition, where they proudly represented Hope Academy.

At the event, nine of our students competed with confidence and sportsmanship, earning outstanding recognition. Hope Academy was awarded Best Build Robot and secured Second Place in the Skills Challenge, a testament to the students’ creativity, precision, and perseverance.

We are also thrilled to celebrate Mr. Jerome, who was honored as Teacher of the Year 2025–2026 for his leadership, passion, and commitment to empowering young innovators.

A heartfelt thank‑you to our Robotics Team and to our dedicated coaches, Mr. Jerome and Mr. Alain, for guiding our students and helping them shine on and off the competition field.

BOYZ2MEN

4th ANNUAL B2M BURGER KING FISHING TOURNAMENT 2026

The 4th Annual Burger King Fishing Tournament, organized by Boyz2Men, Cayman, was held on Saturday, January 31, 2026. At 8:20 that morning, 105 enthusiastic young men and 15 Mentors from four different schools – Clifton Hunter High, John Gray High, CIFFEC, and the Hope Academy – set sail on 3 fishing boats from the Safe Haven Marina off the West Bay Road for their 4th Annual Burger King Fishing Tournament. Among these 105 mentees were seven students representing Hope Academy – Peyton P., Tory Y., Azriel W., Seth M-E., Jaico E., Javier F., and Steven W.

All four schools were distributed among the 3 boats. From the outset, it was noted that the individual rivalry amongst the B2M mentees in the 3 boats was high as everyone wanted to be one of the three prize winners – 1st Fish Caught, Most Fish Caught, and the Biggest Fish Caught.

The 1st Fish Caught award was won by Peyton Pinedo. He also won the award for Biggest Fish Caught, thus earning himself a grand prize of $300KYD

PRIMARY SCIENCE PROJECT

🌱 All About Living and Non‑Living Things: A KG/Grade 1 Adventure

Our KG and Grade 1 learners have been busy exploring one of nature’s biggest questions: What makes something living or non‑living? Through hands‑on discovery, careful observation, and lots of joyful curiosity, our young scientists have been documenting how the world around them works.

This unit has taken us outdoors, into the soil, and deep into the rhythms of nature. Students have compared objects, sorted materials, and learned what all living things need to grow. Their excitement has been contagious—especially as they stepped into their newest role

HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROJECT

🎧 Grade 10 Students Complete Serato DJ Course with Show‑Stopping Final Sets

Our Grade 10 students wrapped up their Serato DJ course this week, and they did it in true Hope Academy style—with confidence, creativity, and some seriously impressive mixes. After weeks of learning beat‑matching, transitions, effects, and live performance skills, each student presented a final DJ set that showcased their unique musical taste and growing technical mastery.

From smooth blends to bold drops, their sets lit up the room and highlighted just how far they’ve come. We’re incredibly proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see where their musical journeys take them next.

PE DEPARTMENT

🏉 Grade 7 Shines on the Rugby Pitch

Our Grade 7 students have continued to thrive on the rugby pitch, showing tremendous growth in skill, confidence, and sportsmanship. Each practice has become a masterclass in teamwork, resilience, and the power of a positive attitude.

From learning strategic plays to supporting one another through every drill, these young athletes are discovering that success in rugby comes from dedication, communication, and a whole lot of heart. And of course—plenty of fun along the way.

We’re proud of their hard work and excited to see how they continue to develop both as players and as teammates. Go team!

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL

🎉 100th Day of School: Aging Gracefully!

Hope Academy marked the 100th Day of School with one of our most charming traditions — students and teachers dressing up as their “100‑year‑old selves.” The halls were filled with canes, curlers, suspenders, gray hair, and plenty of giggles as our “centenarians” proudly showed off their creative outfits. Beyond the fun, the day reminded us just how much learning, growth, and resilience our students have shown in these first 100 days. We’re so proud of their progress and can’t wait to see what the rest of the school year brings.

NCFA 2026

✨ Hope Academy Stars Shine at NCFA!

Two of our talented Hope Academy performers lit up the NCFA stage with their original musical compositions — a true celebration of creativity, courage, and artistic voice.

🎶 Camani Stewart moved the audience with her evocative piece “1:04 AM”, earning a Gold for her stunning performance and heartfelt expression.

🎶 Elexa Cotterell brought her signature flair and imagination with “Swanky Drink”, earning a Silver for her vibrant, expressive work.

We are incredibly proud of both students for sharing their artistry so boldly. Their dedication, originality, and confidence remind us that when young people create from the heart, the world listens.

Keep shining, Camani and Elexa — your voices matter, and your Hope Academy family is cheering you on! 💛
