Volunteers at our school bring with them a range of skills and experiences that can enhance the learning opportunities of students. The school therefore, welcomes and encourages volunteers from the local community.

Our volunteers include:

  • Parents of students
  • Ex-students, who have completed high school
  • Students on work experience
  • University students referred to us by the Ministry
  • Ex-members of staff
  • Local residents
  • Friends of the school

The types of activities that volunteers engage in, on behalf of the school, include:

  • Assisting students with literacy
  • Working with small groups of students to assist them in their learning
  • Working alongside individual students, as an additional tutor
  • Accompanying school visits
  • Safeguarding

Hope Academy is committed to safeguarding students and expect its volunteers to share that commitment.

Becoming a Volunteer

Anyone wishing to become a volunteer, either for a one-off event such as a school visit or on a more regular basis, e.g. assisting students with literacy, usually approaches the Principal, a Senior member of Staff or Class Teacher directly. Volunteers should complete the Volunteer Application Form (see below ) with their contact details, types of activities they would like to help with, the times they are available to help and return it to office.

Please note: The school will seek RCIPS clearance for a volunteer before they come into school, to make an informed decision when accepting volunteers to work with children.

School Standards :  All adults / Young People who work in our school, whether a paid member of staff, or a volunteer are expected to work and behave in such a way as to actively promote our school standards and educational values.
